Calling all budding S1 Photographers: If you are interested in photography and would like to compete with other like-minded people in your year, please come along to Miss Simpsons room next Tuesday (20th December) at lunch time to find out more.

Dundee Dental Insight: This unique 3 day programme will be running from 20th-22nd and 28th-30th June 2017 (pupils can attend either of these sessions, but not both) and will give S5 students the opportunity to shadow current students within the dental hospital, gain hands on experience in the phantom head room and labs, and also receive talks about the application process with current students reflecting on their experiences of applying to dental school.

National Medic Mentor Weekend: is taking place on the 25th and 26th February at the University of Stirling.  In November, nearly 300 students from across Scotland attended and had the opportunity to network with 100s of doctors and medical students, who will be there to share their knowledge and experience with students.

There will be a medical conference taking place on Saturday 25th February with 14 presentations from Royal Colleges, medical schools and a variety of doctors and medical students to help aspiring medics explore careers in medicine and help set up medical school societies at their respective schools.

On Sunday morning (26th February) there is an optional UCAS lecture about applying to medical school which includes 3 textbooks, lunch and free parent registration.  This comprehensive lecture will explain how enthusiastic students can make a competitive medical school application.

Parents are also encouraged to attend as there will be dedicated talks for them too.  It is a highly valuable opportunity for your students to network with doctors and medical students, learn about work experience opportunities and how to make a successful application.

Registration is £25 for the Saturday conference and students can register on the medic mentor website and find out more about the events: http://medicmentor.co.uk/national-medic-mentor-weekend/

All proceeds from the weekend will be used to support our UK’s medical students with scholarships, elective bursaries, free training and educational initiatives.

Teachers can attend for free, as well as students from disadvantaged backgrounds.  I have attached a flyer for your information.  I would be very grateful if you could let me know that you have received my email.  Please contact me on 07454704204 if you have any questions.
