Giant Heptathlon – Congratulations to our team of S1 pupils who competed at last week’s Giant Heptathlon, they managed 3rd place overall. A great achievement! Well done.

Girls Rugby – No training this week as we have a game for the U15 girls. Meet at Murrayfield at 5pm. Game kicks off at 6pm. Bring boots, mouth guard, shorts and socks. Any questions please speak to Mr May.

For S5/S6 – Could all Zoology Club Mentors meet in Miss Muir’s room (G31) on Wednesday at break-time to discuss Zoology Club. New mentors are welcome.

Scottish Schools Aquathlon Championships – This competition involves a race in which competitors swim and then run. There are Individual and mixed team relay aquathlons for teams of 4.
S1/2 = 300m swim, 2km run
S3/4 = 400m swim, 3km run
S5/6 = 500m swim, 4km run
The Mixed Team Relay: 200m swim and 1km run per athlete in a girl, boy, girl, boy format.
Any pupil interested in competing in this even at Stirling University in April should speak to Mr May for more details.

MMA – New times will be from 4pm to 4.15pm, finishing 5pm to 5.30pm on a Thursday at the end sports hall in Currie High School. Times are relaxed to cover both Currie and Balerno pupils. Stay as long you like. First session always free so come and watch or join in as you see fit, you will be welcome.‘MMA – means Mixed Martial Arts’. PuMMA is Pathway to Mixed Martial Arts where you will do some light fun cardio, aerobic, anaerobic and resistance exercise including skipping, softball, dodgeball, stretching etc. Skillsets include boxing, muay Thai, judo and brazilian jiu jitsu. Focus will be on stance, footwork, balance, timing and strategy. But mostly it is for fun, builds confidence and prepares you for more intense training later on.

Senior Study Weekend – There are 3 places still available to attend the Senior Study weekend- 23rd- 25th February at Ardentinny Outdoor Centre. This weekend will focus on revision techniques and managing time in the run up to SQA exams alongside a variety of outdoor activities such as kayaking, gorge walking, biking etc. If you are interested in taking up one of these places please speak to Miss Wright this week- total cost £120 will be due before Feb week.
