S6 MUN Copenhagen – If you are attending the MUN in Copenhagen please attend a meeting in F10 tomorrow at break time.
S6 Pupils- LEAPS Individual Interviews start on 28th August. Please check the University Board Outside the Guidance office for your time slot. Times will be advertised on Monday.
The Higher Education Conference is on the 4th Sept. Letters will be out on Friday during Tutor. In order to be able to attend you must firstly download your ticket in advance according to the instruction on you letter. Secondly, you must return your completed KIC form available from the office if you have lost your original. This has to be done by 27th August.
S6 School Service: If you wish to change your school service option please see Ms Ranger before the end of Friday
Dance Club- There will be a meeting for all who are interested in joining the dance club again next year or for those who want to join us this year. The meeting will be held on Friday at break in the small gym. All welcome- full attendance please. We will be staring all dance classes next week. Thanks.
Scripture Union – (SU) group is back this week, Thursday lunchtime in F10! Whether you’ve been before or are looking to try something new at lunch, come along to play games, make new friends, have some space to chill out and hear a 5 minute soundbite about the Christian faith. Come on your own or with friends – all welcome!
Watersports Trip – We will be having an information meeting about a potential Spanish Watersports trip to run in June 2019. This will be in the Games Hall at lunchtime on Tue 28th Aug. If you are interested in going on the trip next year please pop along to meeting at 1:20pm.
S1-6 Malleny Pupils – All Malleny pupils are welcome to design a new house logo, that will be displayed on the house board. Please make the logo on A4 paper and hand into Miss Wright by Wednesday 29 August.
Sports Clubs @ Balerno HS – Please note all the information about extra-curricular sports clubs will be sent out on Monday next week! All clubs will then start back on the week beginning 3rd September (apart from dance and hockey which will start back week beginning 27th August).
If you have any questions before then please speak to your usual coach or visit Lindsay (Active Schools Coordinator) via PE base on Monday anytime or Thursday afternoon.
School of Rugby – School of Rugby sessions start again on Thursday 23rd August period 1. Sessions this year will be Mondays period 6, Thursdays period 1 and Fridays period 2 plus after school sessions on a Thursday. Any questions please speak to Mr May.
S2-S6 Percussion Pupils – Could all Mr Callaghan’s percussion pupils please attend a short meeting at 1.40pm on Tuesday 21st August in F09.
S1- S6 Choir – Choir rehearsals will continue on Thursday 23rd August at 1.15pm in F09. New members welcome.
Balerno and District School Pipe Band – Any pupil interested in attending the kick start weekend on 8th and 9th September or who is interested in starting lessons in chanter or pipe band drumming please see Mrs Anderson as soon as possible.
S3- S6 Voice lessons – Voice lessons will now take place on Thursday afternoons with Ms Shelfer. Please see the new amended timetable on the music noticeboard.
S6 Career Ready Students – Please come to F8 on Wednesday 23rd August at 1.30pm (Miss Brownhill’s room) to have a quick chat about your placements. There is also the 4th masterclass that you have to attend on Wednesday 29th August at WHEC from 1.30 – 2.35pm.
All Year Groups – Zoology Club has started again. If you like animals and enjoy learning and chatting about them, or like getting hands-on and caring for animals, then Zoology Club is for you! Every Thursday lunch time in Miss Muir’s room (G31). Bring your lunch! All welcome!
School Hockey Club S1-6, Junior and Senior teams: The hockey club will start on Monday 27th August. Please come to a meeting on Friday 24th August in the Games Hall at break. Medical Society – All S4-S6 pupils interested in doing medicine are welcome to come along to Balerno’s Medical Society which will take place every Tuesday lunch in the GFB starting 4th September. In this we will help you with the process of applying to study medicine and discuss recent medical issues
