To all S3s: If you are interested in doing your Bronze Duke of Edinburgh this year please attend a meeting for you and your parents at 7.30pm on Thursday 13th September, in the canteen. The group is run by volunteers parents. Numbers are limited.

Writers’ Group – All pupils are invited to attend the Writers’ Group on Wednesday lunchtimes in F32 from 1.15pm onwards. Bring your lunch. If you enjoy writing and are keen to be involved in projects and enter competitions then we look forward to seeing you.

S6 Pupils – Higher Education Conference Tuesday, 4th Sept.
Please register with your Pupil Support Leader in the concourse at 12 o’clock on Tuesday. We will be travelling by coach at 12.10. Remember to bring a packed lunch as there will be no stops along the way and not time to buy lunch before the event. You must ensure your annual data check and KIC forms are returned in order to be allowed to take part in any trips. If in doubt please check the office. Please also download your ticket BEFORE the event or you will not be allowed to enter. See you on Tuesday!

S6 Numeracy Ambassadors – If any S6 pupil is interested in becoming a Numeracy Ambassador for Balerno High School please meet with Mr Ward in G12 at Lunchtime on Monday 3rd September.

S1-S6 Maths Revision
Come to G12 today at 13.15 for the Maths Lunch Club. Bring your lunches along or just pop in for 5 minutes.

Debating Club – Following on from a great year of debating the club returns to classroom F33 during Wednesday lunch. Bring your lunch and watch debates, take part or help others get competition ready for this year’s events. All welcome.

S1 Annual Christmas Show
It’s that time of year again when S1s have the opportunity to watch a Christmas show at the Lyceum. This year’s offering is Wendy and Peter Pan. But hurry, we only have sixty tickets. See Miss Davie F33, if interested.

Italy Trip 2019 – All pupils going on the Italy trip please attend a short meeting in F50 with Mrs. Harvey-Jamieson on Tuesday 4th September at breaktime.

Medical Society – All S4-S6 pupils interested in doing medicine are welcome to come along to Balerno’s Medical Society which will take place every Tuesday lunch in the GFB starting 4th September. In this we will help you with the process of applying to study medicine and discuss recent medical issues.

Apprenticeships -Any pupil who is seeking an apprenticeship should see Mr Ferguson in the Guidance Base this week.

There’ll be national heats and finals around December.

Edinburgh is host city to Eurocities Conference 28-30 November 2018 and your young people AGED 16+ are needed!
Great skills development, experience to include in their C.V. and personal statement, chance to show off this wonderful city that is theirs to young people (18-30) from 60 cities across Europe, who are attending along with their mayors.
Both opportunities are free to the participants and full support is given from our experienced and dynamic EUROCITIES Edinburgh Youth Programme Curator, Beata Skobodzinska.
