Italy trip – A place has become available on the Italy trip. If anyone in S2-S4 is interested in going please come and collect a letter from Mrs. Harvey-Jamieson in F50.

S1 to S5 – Please ensure you get your challenge week choice forms back to the office asap (by Monday the 28th Jan at the latest) to ensure you have the best chance of getting your first choices during the last week of summer term. Activities are filling up fast!

Vine Trust Participants – S4 and S5 – If you have applied to be part of the Vine Trust Tanzania trip please could you come to a meeting in Meeting Room 2 on Monday during period 3.

All S4 and S5 Biology Pupils – The Zoology Club needs new Zoology Club Mentors! This is a brilliant opportunity to develop skills, expand your C.V and UCAS Personal Statements, and have fun! We need 3 or 4 new mentors.  These positions best suited for those who want to pursue a career in Biology and/or working with children/young people. If you are interested, or have any questions, come speak to Miss Muir in G31.

Lost Property – There are many items in the lost property cupboard and also many jackets and blazers on a rail in the Print Room.  Please come along before Thursday 31 January 2019 to check if you think anything may be yours.  Any items left after this date will be recycled!

S1 Football – New time and new coach! Please note that S1 football will now be on a Monday from 3.45 – 4.45pm. First game will be very soon! Any questions please speak to Mr May.

S5/6 Assessments: S5/6 Assessments will be taking place in the Games Hall, Drama Studio, Meeting Rooms and F29 from 14th January until 24th January.  Please show your respect by being especially quiet when you are near these areas.  Many thanks

Army Work Experience – Any senior interested in a career in the forces who would like to take part in an Army Work Experience, please see Mr Ferguson in the Guidance Base asap.

Opportunity for 15-17 year olds! – The Rotary Club of Currie Balerno has again agreed to sponsor two places at the 2019 RYLA adventure camps taking place in July this year. We will fully fund one place at the boys’ camp and one place at the girls’ camp. The camps will be run by Rotary District 1020 at the Abernethy Trust Centre at Ardeonaig by Loch Tay. The boys’ camp will run for 1 week from 13 July 2019 with the girls’ camp taking place the following week commencing 20 July 2019.  This is a fantastic opportunity to boost your CV and gain valuable skills.  If you are interested, please see Mr Ferguson asap.

Balerno Parish Church – Are you planning to travel abroad in 2019 to take part in voluntary work for the benefit of disadvantaged communities?  If you are under 25 and live in or near Balerno, you can now apply for a bursary if £500 to help with the travel costs involved.  The bursary is offered by Balerno Parish Church to commemorate the life and work of Rev Louise Duncan, former minister at the Church.  Details of the conditions and application procedure are available from the Church website (http://www.balernochurch.org.uk/), where an application form can be downloaded.  The deadline for submitting applications is February 24th 2019.  If you have any questions about the bursary scheme, please contact Marion Milne at marion724@talktalk.net.
