Fire Exits: Pupils should not use these doors to exit the building, these doors are clearly marked as emergency only. Pupils should use the appropriate doors at the reception and pupil entrance to enter and leave the building. Pupils should also use the paths and stairs to exit the building at the end of the school day and not on the driveway or up the grass bank on to the driveway, this is for their own safety due to cars and taxis entering or leaving schools grounds.

School Photograph – S1, S3 & S5 – The school photographer will be in school on Tuesday 19th November to take individual photographs of all S1, S3 & S5 pupils, please ensure that full school uniform is worn, a white shirt, school tie and blazer.              

Change of start time for exams on Thursday 28th November:

These exams will start at exam will start at 13:15 instead of 13:00. This will allow for a full 30 min break following the morning assessments.

Change of start time for exam on Tuesday 3rd December

  • N5 Biology

This exam will start at 13.30 instead of 13.00 and finish at 15.30.

S3 Lawyers in Schools: The second session of lawyers in schools is in the LRC period 3 on Monday 18th November.

Please leave tutor time a couple of minutes early so you are in LRC for 10.20.

Palm Oil Awareness Week: This week the  Zoology Club are raising awareness about the issue of Palm Oil. Palm oil is found in many food and cosmetic products.   In order to produce palm oil, rainforests are being destroyed all over the world, putting animals, plants and indigenous communities at great risk.

Around the  school you will see posters about palm oil. During Friday’s Tutor time there will be a Palm Oil awareness quiz which will contribute to House Points. Make sure you check out the posters to increase your chances of gaining points!

Palm Oil Free Bake Sale – Tuesday Break: The Zoology Club are holding a bake sale on Tuesday 19th November in the Concourse. It is to help raise awareness of the issue of palm oil in everyday products. All proceeds will go towards the Orangutan Foundation –  a charity focussed on raising awareness about the farming practices around palm oil.

Book Week Scotland 18 – 24 November: Next week is Book Week, which means there will lots of challenges and activities across the school, celebrating books, reading, and the pleasure they bring.

DEAR (Drop Everything And Read)

  • All S1-S3 pupils should bring in personal reading books every day next week, and be prepared to drop whatever you’re doing and read something you genuinely enjoy.

Book Cover Door Challenge

  • As part of our celebration of our love of reading, and the chance to win huge prizes, your KAT class can decorate your teacher’s classroom door with a book cover of your choice – the more extravagant and imaginative, the better.
  • The winning class will get a trip to the cinema, and the winning teacher will have an afternoon off for Christmas shopping.

Top Reader Competition: Mrs Timoney will run a ‘Top Reader’ competition and the person who borrows and reads the most in the month between launch of Book Week Scotland and 18th December will win a prize.

Warhammer School Alliance: On Monday at lunchtime come along to G06 and learn the aspects of the table top wargame modelling hobby. Build and paint your own hero model and then pit them against other students heroes in a series of challenges.
