Skills Development Scotland can offer free and impartial advice on education, training, careers and jobs.

Careers Advice and support to access opportunities is also available from Skills Development Scotland for school leavers. We have a dedicated post school team to work with school leavers to help support them with their next steps.Your local Centre is at 79 Shandwick Place Edinburgh EH2 4SD. You can drop in between 9-5 Mon-Fri or phone 0131 718 2040 for an appointment.

We also have a centre at Cairngorm House, Almondvale Boulevard, Livingston, EH54 6QN, 01506 434 249.

Children’s Mental Health Week 2018 – Have a look in the English corridor this week for quotes about mental health from well-known authors.

S1-5 Water sports Opportunity: A place has become available to go on the water sports trip to Barcelona. This trip involves flying to the Spanish coast near Barcelona where pupils will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of activities including sailing, canoeing, snorkling and a visit to Barcelona. If you would like more information on this trip please come and see Mr Russell in the PE department as soon as possible.

MMA – New times will be from 4pm to 4.15pm, finishing 5pm to 5.30pm on a Thursday at the end sports hall in Currie High School. Times are relaxed to cover both Currie and Balerno pupils. Stay as long you like. First session always free so come and watch or join in as you see fit, you will be welcome.‘MMA – means Mixed Martial Arts’. PuMMA is Pathway to Mixed Martial Arts where you will do some light fun cardio, aerobic, anaerobic and resistance exercise including skipping, softball, dodgeball, stretching etc. Skillsets include boxing, muay Thai, judo and brazilian jiu jitsu. Focus will be on stance, footwork, balance, timing and strategy. But mostly it is for fun, builds confidence and prepares you for more intense training later on.
