PE – This is a quick reminder that pupils must bring a change of kit for PE which includes a change of shoes. Scottish Social Dance – As all Core PE classes are now taking part in Scottish Social Dance all pupils should be bringing a full PE kit which must include a change of shoes. Pupils should already be doing this for indoor lessons but many pupils seem to be wearing the same shoes to school and to take part in PE. This is a real worry at this time of year with cold and wet weather. Dirty shoes worn outside then indoors bring in mud and grit which is very unpleasant when classes sit on the floor and can cause damage to flooring. Pupils without a change of shoes will need to dance in bare feet if they forget to bring a change.
Thank you for your co-operation.

The ‘Phoenix’ Table Tennis Club (S1 – 6 Monday Lunch)
This is a table tennis club so no other games should be happening in the games hall when the club is on: Equipment is getting damaged.
Also, pupils are continuing to wear outdoor shoes in the hall. Please ensure that you bring an indoor pair to change into.
Any seniors willing to help run this revived club please come and see Mr Hamilton in F47. It could add to your CV.

If you are interested in competing for the school at next year’s Giant Heptathlon give your names to Mr McKenna in the PE department by Friday the 1st of December. This event involves a range of athletics-based activities that encompass sprinting, hurdling, endurance, long jump, triple jump, step up and chest push. 7 boys and 7 girls make up a team and if there are too many entered, names will be drawn.

Under 14 Rugby – The last leg of the Edinburgh Schools Under 14 Rugby Festival series is this Friday at Murrayfield from 1.30 – 3.30pm. Any players wanting to play must see Mr May today (Wednesday) or tomorrow (Thursday).

S4 Prelim Exams: – Can all S4 pupils who are taking exams next week please ensure they know their seat number before they enter the Drama Studio. This information will be available in the concourse, outside the canteen and at the reception area at the base of the stairs to Music the day before each exam.
Good luck!

All Pupils: – Please be aware the S4 Prelims will be taking place in the Drama Studio and F29 from Monday 25th November to Wednesday 6th December. Can you please be quite as you move around these areas of the school over the next 10 days.Thank you.

What a Disaster 2 (The Sequel – Actions Have Consequences) ! – Due to certain S2 boys (again, you know who you are!) targeting certain other pupils by throwing sweets around the room I have had to take the regrettable step of postponing the Disaster Film Club for two weeks this time (you were warned of this last time). It will now resume on the 14th of December. If anything similar happens again, then this club’s future might be in jeopardy and not run for an extended period of time. Again I realise that the minority have spoiled it for the majority here but this is completely unacceptable. I should not have to ‘police’ my room during my lunch break! Staff members give up their valuable time to facilitate clubs like these at no cost to you. Please treat them with respect and consideration.

Naples, Italy trip: ParentPay is now up and running for deposits to be made.

Planning on finding a job as soon as you leave school? -If you are thinking about leaving school to find employment, or you would like to get a job as soon as you leave school next year, Skills Development Scotland is planning an event to help you with searching and applying for jobs. Should you be interested/ require further info, please see Mr Ferguson in the Guidance Base.

Book Week Scotland – Classroom Door Challenge – The class with the best decorated door, inspired by their chosen book, by Friday 1st December will win a trip out of school before Christmas! There will also be a quiz based on questions about the books which will be part of every door design – details coming soon.
Happy decorating!

All Pupils – With now one in 4 children in Scotland living in poverty, for many families Christmas this year is a luxury they cannot afford. We have pledged to help those living in poverty in our communities by becoming a drop off point for Cash For Kids’ Mission Christmas initiative. If you can, please drop off at the downstairs Reception a new gift, unwrapped, for a boy or girl from 0-18. Please do not include food items.

The ‘Phoenix’ Table Tennis Club (S1 – 6 Monday Lunch) – Just to reiterate that this is a table tennis club so no other games / sports should be happening in the games hall when the club is on: Balls and bats are being broken when playing ‘squash’ against walls.
Also, pupils are continuing to wear outdoor shoes in the hall (honest guv, they’re my indoor ones!). This will not be allowed going forward!
I will check that you have TWO PAIRS of shoes when you come along (one outdoor pair and one indoor pair to change into). I will ask to see BOTH before you can play.
Any seniors willing to help run this revived club please come and see Mr Hamilton in F47. It could add to your CV.

Book Week Scotland – Classroom Door Challenge – The class with the best decorated door, inspired by their chosen book, by Friday 1st December will win a trip out of school before Christmas! S1 – 6 Table Tennis club on Monday lunchtimes – Make sure you eat before you arrive (no food in the games hall) and bring INDOOR trainers (I will check and without them you will not be able to play!).
S6’s please come and see me if you can help run this club in ANY way, either before lunch (period 5 setup), during the club or after lunch (period 6 tidy up). Any assistance would be much appreciated and could be used for your CV.
