Bereavement

Support Available for Young People & Families

Grief is an emotional response to loss and will be a process rather than an event. It may affect how you feel emotionally, physically or socially. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to feel; likewise you might feel nothing or be unable to think and feel. It is important you talk to friends and family; tell them how you feel, talk about your lost one and the memories you have.

The school are here to support you now and in the weeks, months and years ahead. The below support is available for anyone who may need it-

  • Speak to your PSL; this can be a pre-arranged time or pop in to the guidance base.
  • Talk to any trusted adult in school
  • If you feel you need more support we can refer to Rebecca Shannon, school counsellor, or Richmond Hope – a Bereavement support charity.
